This quaint Welsh stone cottage is set within the grounds of a private house. It is simply charming, it’s restoration retains its exposed stone walls and wooden beams. Directly opposite the cottage is the Kenfig Nature Reserve which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and offers a range of activities including birdwatching and hiking. Throughout the year the area is packed with things to see, explore and discover. It is perfectly placed for a number of attractions including mountain biking at Margam Country Park with its 1000 acres of countryside that includes a castle, a deer park and a visitor centre. Bryngarw Country Park is also nearby with stunning woodland areas, lakes and a pond. Also close by is Cowbridge, a picturesque market town situated at the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan. Other nearby attractions include Rest Bay and Trecco Bay in Pothcawl, the McArthurGlen Shopping Outlet at Bridgend for those wishing to enjoy a day shopping with a lazy lunch. The vibrant cities of Swansea and Cardiff are both easily accessible by road too. (Please check admittance for the various attractions).

Upon entering the cottage, you will find the charming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This area is very welcoming with two large armchairs and a Smart TV to enjoy your favourite programmes and films after a long day of exploration in the Porthcawl area. The dining section has a wooden table and chairs for you to enjoy your meals at. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, a fridge/freezer, a washing machine and a microwave for all your self-catering needs on holiday. There is one bedroom with a zip-and-link double bed that can be made into two twin beds upon request. There is also a shower room with a WC near to the bedroom for convenience. (Regret no children or babes in arms).

Stepping outdoors, there is an enclosed garden with seating to enjoy the surroundings in the sun and the valley views.

The cottage was lovely! We could not have asked for a better place to stay. There were so many lovely places within a half an hour drive! Disappointed with the nearby pub, but, within a five minute walk was the Prince of Wales pub which served amazing food in a great atmosphere! Rustic and well appointed cottage, Ideal spot for proximity to places we wanted to visit. Owners very pleasant and helpful and informative. The area holds many historical interests; plenty of walks, plus places to eat. Ideal for older people like us with mobility issues.

the cottage itself was in a good area with plenty to do. It was cosy and warm and was well equipped and lovely to come back to at the end of the day. We loved all the antiques ie the Victorian dolls pram, sewing machine etc and the old washer in the lounge. Although we bumped in to the owners very briefly by chance, it would have been nice if they Read morehad introduced themselves and perhaps given us the key and showed us around. A perfect little place for a week away. The cottage had everything required. A well equipped kitchen and a lovely little welcome hamper. The bed was comfortable and very roomy. Lovely location for country walks and 2 pubs close by. Will definitely be back again.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, in s great restful, peaceful, & quaint location...clean, tidy & well maintained. Very pleasant and friendly owners who have obviously done a fantastic job of the restoration of the cottage, loved it's history and will definitely want to go back. Our third visit really says it all. Beautifully renovated cottage. Comfortable chairs for relaxing in after a day out. Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss but might have been due to the weather? Cosy, clean character cottage located next to Kenfig nature reserve and two great pubs serving good food. Everything is provided and has excellent shower and natural garden. The hosts are very welcoming but leave you to enjoy the cottage. The best cottage we have stayed in. Definitely recommend.

The cottage is very well situated for visits to Porthcawl - just a 10 minutes drive away. Pub next door provides adequate food. Miles of walks across the road on the nature reserve but not suitable if one has a walking problem. The cottage is a lovely place to stay. It has everything you need, it's clean, cosy and comfortable. Also a great location for walks and visiting further afield. Two local pubs both within walking distance offer great food.

The cottage was comfortable and in a great position for exploring the Heritage coast of South Wales. Walks from the front door, so no need to constantly use the car. Train station at Pyle, about 5 minutes away, from where there are plenty of trains and you can get to Cardiff easily. Very comfortable bed.

Long awaited second visit. Still lovely and clean and tidy with everything you needed for a pleasant stay. For some reason the mattress didn't suit me or maybe it was because I did too much sitting around in the sunshine!

We hat a wonderful week at Bryn Eglwys. The cottage was spotless and clearly everything was nearly new. Bed was big and comfortable and the walk-in shower had plenty of pressure and was nice and hot. Wi-fi/broadband was good with plenty of bandwith to get the best out of the lovely smart TV in the living room. Delightful cottage, comfortable and well-equipped with friendly, helpful owners near by. Semi-rural location but short drive to supermarkets, other retail and excellent fish & chip shop. Good food at neighbouring pub and pre/post lunch walks in nature reserve opposite cottage.
