Set in the heart of Paincastle, this former chapel, originally built in 1828, has been sympathetically restored offering original features with a contemporary twist, simply perfect whatever occasion.

This peaceful hamlet is well served with a good village pub serving great food. For walking you can access the Begwyns from your front door, 580 acres of National Trust hills and rolling landscape with breath-taking views across The Brecon Beacon National Park. For the energetic, the Brecon Beacons National Park and River Wye have a number of adventure training providers, from renting a canoe, to high rope courses and gorge walking. Hay-on-Wye just a short drive away, is famous for its International Book Festival, with plenty of second-hand bookshops, an art house cinema and independent shops, as well as The Globe at Hay. Talgarth is worth discovering, and the Talgarth Mill with its working traditional watermill.

This beautiful restored chapel within the hamlet was originally built in 1828 and has been restored to a very high standard. Step inside and leave your walking boots within the entrance hall. The ground floor is open-plan with the original chapel windows and solid wooden floors; the lounge area offers a wood burner with sofas that you can sink into after a day walking and exploring, with a Smart TV/DVD set to the side. For dining there is a table set for four with some of the original chapel chairs adding to the character. The kitchen area is contemporary in style and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is also a WC on the ground floor. When the day is done climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find the two bedrooms. A king-size with vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and a twin bedroom with wooden framed beds and an en-suite shower room and WC. There is also a separate bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

There is a wrought iron bench to the front of the chapel where you can watch the world go by. And there is roadside parking available, opposite the chapel.

Beautiful cottage and location, perfect for couples with older children. We took our dogs, but be aware there is no gardens for them, but plenty of walks in surrounding area.
