This charming family cottage is just 500 metres from the centre of Hay-on-Wye, the renowned "town of books" filled with many and varied independent bookstores, cosy cafes, delightful restaurants, and traditional pubs serving local ales. Wander through the town's historic streets and explore the ruins of the ancient castle at its heart. Just 200 metres from your doorstep lies the famous Offa’s Dyke walking trail, perfect for a day of peaceful hiking through the countryside with a picnic in tow. For a relaxing afternoon, stroll from the door along the riverbank and enjoy a paddle at The Warren or embark on a kayaking adventure on the River Wye. Cyclists can explore the scenic surroundings, including the 12th-century Llanthony Priory, located 11.5 miles away. For those seeking a challenge, the rugged summit of Pen-y-Fan, 25 miles away, offers breathtaking views of the Brecon Beacons.

Step inside through the front terrace doorway to discover a warm and inviting home, decorated in neutral tones and retaining its charming period features. Unwind in the cosy living room, where natural light streams through the bay window. Settle into the plush sofas for an evening in front of the Smart TV or enjoy a movie on the DVD player. During the cooler months, the feature fireplace with a real flame-effect gas fire adds extra warmth and ambiance. Step through to the back of the house and into the spacious kitchen/diner which is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, featuring a gas hob with electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, slimline dishwasher, and washing machine. An archway leads to the bright dining area, which boasts a farmhouse-style table seating six and French doors that open onto an enclosed garden courtyard.

Upstairs, steep cottage stairs lead to the first floor where you find a charming double bedroom with plenty of storage for your belongings. The family bathroom on this floor features a bath with a wall-mounted shower. Continue up to the second floor to find a cosy family room tucked into the eaves, complete with three single beds and built-in wardrobes.

Outside, the enclosed patio garden, accessible through the French doors, is perfect for alfresco dining with a BBQ and outdoor furniture. On-road parking is available, and public car parks are nearby for added convenience.

Charming period house in great central location. Cozy and well equipped with great new boiler so showers and heating were great. Plenty of space for family of 4. No parking space, but we managed to find a space somewhere on the road when we used the car. However this may be more difficult in peak season. Great base for exploring the black mountainsRead more and Brecons. Also close to Hereford for a nice day out. The steep stairs were not an issue and we have small children and added to the charm. This is a lovely property in a great location. Across the road are some excellent walks, and the town centre is a 5 minute walk away. The house was clean and well equipped - with some kitchen essentials to start us off, which was very much appreciated. The beds were comfy and the shower was powerful.

Lovely holiday with excellent walking. Cottage is well placed to enjoy Hay and is an easy walk to the centre. The stairs are steep and if you have mobility issues then this isn't for you. A few things in the cottage need addressing but it didn't ruin our holiday.

Location great, house lovely, if you struggle with steps this isn't for you, steep due to the age of the house. Even though there isnt any parking with the house, it wasnt difficult to find a space.

Very basic cottage and not worth the 746 we paid. An upgrade is needed (particularly the bathroom). The stairs were steep - please do not underestimate this they are very steep! There was no welcome pack which whilst not required was a tad disappointing when most other cottages provided at least tea, coffee and milk for a couple of days. There is nRead moreo hairdryer at this property as well as no full length mirror and no clocks! The location however was ideal for exploring Hay-on-Wye. Hide

Perfect location for exploring Hay and the river Wye. Only five minutes into town, even closer for walking along the river. Nice Pubs with good food in close range. The house has the charm of victorian times with extension, so there is enough space for a family of four. The staircases are quite steep and not very comfortable for tall people.
