This area is steeped in history; you can explore the ancient towns and villages and castles at Ludlow and Stokesay, or if you have time, there are many National Trust houses and gardens to explore. Ludlow and the surrounding South Shropshire countryside is also an ideal cycling area. Often referred to as ‘mini-Switzerland’, the beautiful hilly countryside includes the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that has many quiet country lanes, forest areas and planned routes to suit cyclists of all abilities. There are numerous local events throughout the year that involve food, music, and crafts. This is also an area well known for its excellent restaurants and pubs, many serving locally sourced produce. A visit to the Ludlow Farmshop is a must if you’re venturing out on a picnic, whilst those of you sporting plus fours will be happy to know that some of the most stunning golf courses in the country are nearby, namely Church Stretton and Kington.

The property itself is a traditional old barn conversion that reflects its rural surrounding whilst also offering the extreme comfort of modern-day living. Internally, there is a very well-equipped kitchen offering an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Connected to the kitchen is the cosy lounge with an electric fire, where double doors open out onto the terrace so you can take advantage of the stunning easterly views over Clee Hill in the distance before settling down to watch some of your favourite programmes on the TV. There is a comfortable double bedroom on the ground floor with a direct door to the garden and an en-suite shower room with a shower and WC. On the first floor, there is the master bedroom with its super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) and there is an adjoining bathroom with shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, there is a large private garden with a dedicated seating area and charcoal BBQ. There is off-road parking for two cars and storage for bikes. On the estate, there are numerous tracks and bridle paths to enjoy. The garden has very recently been properly enclosed to be dog proof and we will update photos to show this very soon.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 super-king zip-and-link (that can be made into twin beds on request when booking)
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer
  • TV in lounge
  • Garden set to lawn
  • Outdoor hose for dog washing
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Please note, dogs are not permitted upstairs
  • Pub and shop 3 miles
  • Mobility/Wheelchair access: gravel drive leading to brick walk-way surround, door thresholds, down-stairs bedroom with shower (raised tray)
  • This property will be decorated for Christmas
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

Sybils Cottage is charmingly quirky but functions perfectly to accommodate and facilitate a relaxing, effortless and tranquil stay. The layout is unusual but doesnt hinder enjoyment, the garden is much larger than expected and parking just outside the front door is ideal for loading luggage and shopping. The interior is tastefully furnished, floodeRead mored with natural light and equipped with every convenience you should need. Well located for Ludlow and access to the A49. Hide

Beds and linens were extremely top quality. Great Cottage if you have a dog or child as a very spacious lawn that is completely enclosed. It is quite out in the sticks and we found we had to drive a few miles to find walks.

This is an almost perfect place to stay. The bed downstairs is very comfortable and the linens are luxurious, the sun coming in the bedroom window in the morning is lovely. There is all the equipment you need for a pleasant stay. The garden was perfect for our 2 labradors and thed view was lovely. We had many breakfasts sitting outside listening toRead more just the sounds of the geese and chickens. However, the settees are too low and uncomfortable, we tried the risers, but the settees were too heavy. Hide

The cottage is hidden out of the way of any main roads, so very peaceful and tranquil. It is in a great location for walks and is spotless inside and out. Although dog friendly the garden is not fully enclosed.

We had a wonderful week at Sybils Cottage in Ludlow. A great base to tour the surrounding area including Hereford, Shrewsbury, North Wales etc. The cottage is situated in the heart of the farming community, is quiet & peaceful but within easy reach of shops & pubs. 5* accommodation which we would highly recommend to anyone wanting comfort & quiet.

Very good barn conversion. Excellent beds although having the toilet just behind the bed with no door was a bit too continental for our taste. Living room and garden furniture could be better guality Very nice rural location with excellent views.
