Alternatively, explore the Mortimer Trail and the lovely walks to Hergest Ridge (7 miles). Just 6 miles away is the market town of Kington, which offers a choice of good shops, pubs, and restaurants. Discover Presteigne (4.5 miles), which nestles in the heart of The Marches and is home to the Judge’s Lodging Museum. Visit Hay-on-Wye with its literary festival and bookshops, Builth Wells famed for the Royal Welsh Show, and the medieval town of Ludlow, all less than 25 miles away.

This beautiful old building has been viewed by architectural historians as one of the most important vernacular architecture houses in Wales. Its core was built in 1482 and you can still see medieval paintings on some of the internal timbers and hex marks, to keep witches away, on timbers in the master bedroom. Accommodating up to 14 guests with rooms spread across four floors, this property is perfect for entertaining. It offers three vibrant reception areas, plus a formal dining hall for celebration suppers. For day-to-day living, guests can take advantage of the well-equipped kitchen space, divided into two parts and perfect for food preparation – the larger part enjoying the warmth of an Aga. For dining, guests can entertain in style within the formal dining hall which was built in 1482 and has many original features. Guests have the choice of three generously sized lounges: the dual aspect ground-floor lounge with a wood burner, the first-floor lounge also enjoys a dual aspect with stunning views, a wood burner and Smart TV, and a further snug is perfect for a quiet afternoon with a good book. A detached barn offers another space for entertaining, with a full-size pool table and comfortable seating. Guests have the choice of seven bedrooms: on the first floor, there is one king-size, one twin and one double. On the ground floor, there is one king-size with a wood burner, and one single. On the lower ground floor, there is one twin. An attic room that is perfect for children has three single beds. There are three bathrooms, including one bathroom with a roll-top bath, shower and WC, and one shower room with a mini sunken jacuzzi on the first floor. And on the lower ground floor is a wet room with WC.

Outside, there are 6 acres for guests to enjoy. There are two terraces, one set with a large table and chairs, and another with wooden benches. A beautiful wildflower meadow surrounds the property. You can join Offa's dyke directly from the entrance to the property.
