Set within the vibrant high street of Hay-on-Wye, this beautifully finished townhouse offers a place for guests to relax and unwind, with an open plan living space full of rustic charm finished with a contemporary twist. Step out onto the high street and take advantage of what this bustling market town has to offer; famous for the annual book festival, you can lose yourself in one of the many bookstores or enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching the world go by. A weekly farmers market offers fresh local produce and crafts, The Globe hosts a variety of live music, comedians and plays, with a cinema offering an eclectic choice of movies. The town sits on the banks of the River Wye and a local beach, The Warren, is great for a wild swim or canoe hire. For walkers, you can access the trail up to the Hay Bluff from the rear of the property.

Stepping away from the hustle and bustle of Hay-on-Wye and into the property, the town house has recently been restored, offering a wealth of character with a contemporary twist. Accessed via a traditional stepped side passage with original flags, the large side door opens into the lounge area. Slightly elevated, though still offering views onto Castle Street, the room retains many original features including an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove and exposed beams. Comfortable sofas finished with soft furnishings and a TV finish the room. An open arch with steps leads up into a spacious kitchen/diner with bi-folding doors that open onto the garden. The kitchen is well-equipped, offering everything guests may need for preparing meals during their stay. A dining table with eight chairs takes centre stage and is perfect for a celebration supper. A further lobby with stable door to the rear of the property is great for storing muddy boots and coats; this space offers a utility area with washing machine and separate WC. Upstairs, guests have the choice of three beautifully finished bedrooms, a king-size room with Juliette balcony and luxurious en-suite bathroom with freestanding bath, a second king-size room with en-suite shower room, and a twin room. Formerly a three-storey property, guests can now make the most of the vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. There is a shower room completing the accommodation.

Outside, guests can relax within the private enclosed garden, a patio area with generously sized table and chairs for summer dining, along with steps leading up to the established flower beds and lawned area. There is rear access to the garden for guests, along with storage for bikes.

Our stay in The Town House was delightful. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were provided with milk, OJ, butter and bread, along with some other treats that were very much appreciated! The lounge is very comfortable and the log fire was a focal point on the cooler evenings along with the record player (did not expect that). The outside areaRead more is a real sun trap and the barbecue was put to good use too. The bedrooms are spacious and the house was warm and welcoming. A great place to stay. Hide

21 Castle Street, Hay on Wye is a little gem, little on the outside and spacious on the inside. Excellent quality throughout with everything we needed. Downstairs is perfect for socialising and the three bathrooms are usual for three bedrooms but very much liked. Great to be so close to the lovely independent shops. The cinema is well worth a visitRead more, as is the castle guided tour. So many book shops to browse and enjoy. Very dog friendly and super walks to the river and along to the meadow. Hide
