Walkers, hikers and bikers will love the footpath straight up the valley to Llangattock Mountain, where the caves of Agen Allwedd are very popular for caving. Craig-y-Cilliau, the hillside behind this delightful barn conversion, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and attracts a wealth of wildlife. The River Usk is easily accessible in Crickhowell, or you can take a stroll along The Brecon and Monmouth Canal. This cottage is within easy reach of the villages of Llangattock and Crickhowell, where there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and local coffee shops to quench your thirst after a day in the hills. Day permits for fishing on the The Rivers Usk & Wye are available and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury.

Cosy yet spacious, this romantic barn conversion makes the perfect getaway for two. Whitewashed exposed stone walls contrast beautifully with traditional beams, whilst the large patio doors in the living room let the light pour in. The kitchen has a double electric oven, halogen hob, microwave, washing machine, toaster, fridge and a freezer, and there is an area just inside the door for hanging coats and hats as well as storing boots. High ceilings in the living room give a sense of space, and the two sofas facing the wood burner are ideal for relaxing on whilst enjoying a film on the Smart TV after a day in the hills. Open the patio doors to enjoy the views and fresh air whilst you dine at the table. Up a flight of stone stairs with a wooden handrail, the charming bedroom has a king-size bed, wooden floorboards, original doors and an en-suite with a shower over the bath.

There is a small sheltered garden where you can enjoy dining alfresco with a BBQ as the sun sets. Ample parking for several cars.

Great find. Loved the location, remote on one level , but only a 10min drive to the village of Crickhowell for supplies and eateries. We were spoilt for choice for walks (despite going after heavy rain, and facing some very muddy puddles). Everything about the barn was as you would hope and expect. It is just as advertised. The location is perfect, away from it all, but easy to get to the local village etc. Nia and Alan are very good and helpful hosts. It is the perfect base for walking in the area, with helpful leaflets full of suggestions. A nice relaxing active break.

Cottage is in a lovely remote location surrounded by hills and countryside [and sheep!] and there is an abundance of wildlife. It has been well converted from a barn and is clean and comfortable. Crickhowell is just over 1 .5 miles by road or about 35 minutes walk using the path behind the cottage. The cottage is well placed for walks.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Cwmbach Barn. The accommodation was comfy, spacious and well equipped, and the host was lovely. The location was just what we had hoped, being away from noisy roads and neighbours (our neighbours for the week were the sheep and the many varieties of wild birds). Fabulous quiet location with easy access to town and all the local sights. Great walks around the cottage. Straight on to a path/right of way at the back of the cottage which is great for dog walks. Loads to see and do around the area and we plan to come back as soon as we have time. Cottage equipment and comfort was fantastic.
